| Ziffelz, The |
| Named after the pig farming family on the old sitcom, Green Acres, the Ziffelz are as far removed from the images one might conjure as Eddie Albert's character, Mr. Douglas, was from being a farmer. Influenced by the likes of Pink Floyd and King Crimson along with Rory Gallagher, and Billy Cobham the band has developed a an experimental cutting edge style that combines satirical Dylanish lyrics with hard bluesy rock instrumentation. Their newest release, On the Horizon, showcases the bands versatile backgrounds in folk, blues, rock, and jazz. The group consists of Urbain Bernier on electric guitar and vocal, Wayne Small on bass guitar, acoustic guitar and vocal, Marc Bradley on drums. The band's sound is further diversified by the use of two songwriters and their unique approaches. This variety has broadened the band's appeal to a more diverse audience that include blues, punk, and hardcore fans as well as Deadheads. The band is currently touring to promote their latest release and are working a follow up set to be released in 2000. |

| Zach Kinstner is an eighteen-year-old singer/songwriter from Muskegon, Michigan who strives to create music that is meaningful, expressive, and able to connect with listeners on a personal level. His songs, while written on acoustic guitar or piano, are transformed by the recording process, as he arranges drums, bass, and symphonies to give the music a larger, full-band effect. Zach's lyrics are thoughtful, poetic, honest, and (dare we say) intelligent, arising directly from the pains and rare pleasures of personal experience. For Zach, writing songs is a much-needed emotional release... a way to make something enjoyable from even the worst situations.
Finding a fitting description for Zach's music is quite a task, as it borders on the edges of alternative and pop, somewhere between acoustic and mainstream rock. Many have said that his songs make them sad, or that they are relaxing, or simply that the choruses have been stuck in their heads all day! This young, upcoming singer/songwriter has great potential and hopes to get his music out to anyone willing to hear it. |
