MORTAR is a 3-piece THRASH BAND from the Detroit area. We're all original, however, we do throw in some covers if there's time left in the set.

History:
The band Mortar has been performing for quite some time in and around the Detroit area before they were Mortar. The first successful band, that can be mentioned, was Sutcher Self. A punk rock band formed in 1990 by Carlos Charles, (guitar), Andy Potoczek, (drums), Chris Teasel, (vocals), and Dave Williams, (bass). For some reason or another Carlos had left the band. That was when Vince Luther stepped in as the new guitarist. The band went as far as producing some studio recordings, however, they didn't stay together long after that. Unfortunately, what had been created in the studio had never gone into production. In 1992 another band was formed. This time there would be two guitarists sharing the lead and rhythm responsibilities, Carlos Charles and Vince Luther. Andy Potoczek would be the drummer for this band also. James Grech, (bass), and his brother Joe Grech, (vocals), were added to complete the progressive punk rock group, In Parenthesis. This arrangement lasted for a while, but because of musical differences, everyone went there own way.
